Design and Technology Teacher, South Birmingham

Job Description

Zest Education are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Design and Technology Teacher to join a secondary school that we closely work with in the Sparkhill area. This is a full-time teaching position to start in February 2024 until the end of the academic year.

Responsibilities:
– Develop and deliver engaging and interactive lessons in Design and Technology to secondary school students
– Plan, prepare and assess the progress of students, providing timely and constructive feedback
– Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and success
– Incorporate innovative teaching methods and use of technology to enhance learning outcomes
– Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum materials and resources
– Provide guidance and support to students in their design projects and practical work
– Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations in the Design and Technology workshops
– Maintain accurate records of student attendance, achievements, and assessments
– Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and external stakeholders regarding students’ progress and achievements
– Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and procedures
– Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge

Requirements:
– Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
– Degree in Design and Technology or a related field
– Proven experience teaching Design and Technology at the secondary level
– Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the Design and Technology curriculum
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
– Proficient in using technology and digital tools in teaching
– Effective classroom management skills
– Organized and able to plan and prepare lessons effectively
– Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a school setting
– Commitment to continuous professional development

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
