Sociology Teacher

Job Description

Zest education are currently working with a ‘Good’ Ofsted rated school in Tamworth to recruit a Sociology Teacher. This role is to start in January 2025, ideally the school are looking for somebody who can commit to a full-time position but part time, 0.8, may also be considered for the right candidate. The role is for a minimum of one term.

The school are ideally looking for a Sociology teacher with the ability to teach to KS4 and KS5. The successful applicant would be creative, enthusiastic and looking to develop their career.

Not only does the school have a great reputation in the local community, the successful applicant would be joining a supportive leadership structure as well as an excellent departmental team.

The successful applicant will have:

  1. A PGCE or equivalent UK teaching qualification that has awarded them QTS or QTLS
  2. A strong passion for the subject of Sociology and excellent subject knowledge across KS4 and KS5 (Criminology knowledge would be ideal but isn’t a necessity)
  3. A team ethos and want to be part of a strong team environment
  4. The ability to plan, mark and deliver high quality lessons (planning and marking only for short/long term placements).
  5. Strong classroom and behaviour management
  6. Be confident in using ICT in their professional role

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and recent school-based experience (teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
