SEN 1:1 Teaching assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is looking for a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs in a welcoming school setting. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on making a real difference in a child’s learning journey and day-to-day school life.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 tailored support for a pupil with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Support with social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement education and support plans.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
  • Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals where appropriate.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience working with children (Ideally with SEN) is highly desirable.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with SEN children.
  • A proactive, adaptable approach to supporting learning.
  • An enhanced DBS check that is on the update service (or willingness to apply for one through Zest Education).

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
