1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is currently working with a welcoming primary school in Burton-on-Trent to recruit a dedicated 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in Key Stage 1 or 2 from September 2025.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and reliable TA to make a real difference in a pupil’s educational journey. The role is initially temporary but offers a pathway to a permanent position for the right candidate.

About the Role:

  • Provide individualised support for a pupil with special educational needs (SEN)

  • Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the child’s specific needs

  • Assist with social and emotional development throughout the school day

  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO to track progress and update support strategies

  • Help maintain a calm, safe, and positive classroom environment

What We’re Looking For:

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties)

  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff

  • A calm, patient, and flexible approach

  • A relevant qualification (Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning) is desirable but not essential

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
