Job Description

Zest Education is currently seeking a 1:1 Teaching Assistant for a reputable special educational needs school in Rugeley. This role is due to begin ASAP and will continue for the full academic year.

This school caters for children from the age of 3-11 with Autism (ASC) and social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH).

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting a 10-year-old child with Autism (ASC) on their educational journey. Your main responsibility will be to provide tailored support to the child, helping them overcome learning challenges and achieve their goals. Your resilient nature and ability to confidently manage challenging behaviours will be essential in ensuring the child’s progress and well-being.

This school take pride in providing a stimulating and outstanding environment for the children. The primary focus is on catering to the individual needs of each child, offering a broad range of flexible learning opportunities.

We welcome applications not only from experienced Teaching Assistants, but also from Support Workers and individuals who have worked with adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). While previous experience in a school environment would be advantageous, your genuine passion for working with children and dedication to their development is what matters most to us.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a 10-year-old child with Autism (ASC)
  • Tailor support to overcome learning challenges and help the child achieve their goals
  • Manage challenging behaviours with resilience and confidence
  • Create a safe and stimulating environment for the child’s development
  • Collaborate with the school staff to ensure the child’s progress and well-being

 Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Resilient nature and ability to confidently manage challenging behaviours
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Genuine passion for supporting children with Autism (ASC)
  • Flexibility to adapt to the individual needs of the child
  • Relevant qualifications in education or related fields (desirable but not essential)

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
