1:1 Teaching Assistant – Stafford

Job Description

Zest Education is recruiting for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work at a primary school in Stafford. This role will be due to start asap.

The role will see you work under the direct instruction of teaching staff, usually in the classroom with the teacher. You will be required to provide specific support to the teacher in the care of pupils and management of the classroom.  Work may be carried out in the classroom or outside the main teaching area.

You will:

  • Provide pastoral support to pupils within the school environment.
  • Assist children in matters of personal needs and their general health including first aid and welfare matters.
  • Support and guide pupils to develop personally, socially and emotionally.
  • Provide structured support in accordance with specific work programmes designed and supervised by individual teachers.
  • Engage pupils in the curriculum through delivery of structured support designed by individual teachers with a focus on the development of key academic skills in core subjects.
  • Provide structured support in accordance with specific work programmes designed and supervised by individual teachers, including phonics, reading and key skills in other core subjects
  • Support the teacher in the development and implementation of Personal Learning/Behaviour Plans.
  • Assist in maintaining classroom discipline through the implementation of the school’s behaviour management strategies.
  • Assist the teacher in monitoring pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately record achievement/progress as directed.

  •  comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons you are responsible for or come into contact with.
  • comply and engage with people management policies and processes
  • Have a firm but fair approach to learning

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
