Zest Education are recruiting for cover supervisors to work across secondary schools that we closely work with in the Handsworth area to start in September 2022.

To work as a Cover Supervisor, you will need to have at least 20 days of referenceable experience of working with children within the last 5 years (this does NOT have to be within a classroom setting). Popular previous roles for Cover Supervisors include Football Coaches, Dance Teachers, and Swimming Instructors.

This role is part time, working 2-3 days and is flexible to fit around you.

A day-to-day as a cover supervisor will include:

  • Supervising work that has been set in accordance with the school policy
  • Managing the behaviour of pupils whilst they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive environment
  • Responding to any questions from pupils about processes and procedures
  • Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school’s policies and procedures
  • Collecting any completed work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher
  • Reporting back on the behaviour of pupils during the class, using the school’s agreed referral procedures

A successful applicant will have:

  • Very good numeracy/literacy skills
  • Excellent communication skills with students, parents/carers, and professionals
  • Can use ICT to support and enhance teaching and learning
  • A passionate commitment to raising the attainment of all students
  • A team player who can work collaboratively with others



Rate of pay will vary dependant on experience.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
