EYFS Teaching Assistant

Job Description

EYFS Teaching Assistant – Full Time (Northfield)

Monday–Friday | 8:20am–3:40pm | Personal Care Required

Zest Education is delighted to be recruiting a compassionate and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a warm and welcoming primary school in Northfield. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to support young children at a crucial stage in their development, working closely with pupils in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

This role is perfect for someone with a natural passion for early childhood education, a nurturing approach, and the confidence to provide personal care where required. If you are committed to helping children flourish in a supportive, safe, and stimulating learning environment, we would love to hear from you.

About the Role

As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will play an essential part in supporting children as they begin their learning journey within the Early Years Foundation Stage. Your daily responsibilities will include:

Supporting Learning & Development

  • Assisting EYFS pupils with early literacy, numeracy, and play‑based learning
  • Working 1:1 or with small groups to build confidence, communication, and social skills
  • Encouraging independence while offering guidance tailored to each child’s needs

Providing Personal Care

  • Offering personal care to children when required
  • Maintaining dignity, respect, and a calm approach at all times
  • Ensuring children feel safe, supported, and comfortable throughout the school day

Creating a Nurturing Environment

  • Helping to set up engaging classroom activities
  • Supporting children with additional or complex needs
  • Contributing to a positive, inclusive, and child‑centred atmosphere

This is a role where you will make a genuine, lasting difference—supporting young learners as they grow, explore, and develop foundational skills.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking an individual who brings warmth, enthusiasm, and reliability to the classroom. Ideal candidates will:

  • Have experience supporting EYFS-aged children
  • Be confident delivering personal care where needed
  • Show patience, empathy, and a child-focused mindset
  • Enjoy working collaboratively with teaching staff and other support colleagues
  • Be committed to helping young learners thrive both academically and emotionally

Whether you’re an experienced Teaching Assistant or someone looking to grow their skills within the Early Years sector, this role offers fantastic opportunities for professional development and hands-on experience.

Hours & Schedule

  • Full Time: Monday–Friday
  • Working Hours: 8:20am – 3:40pm
  • Location: Northfield
