Job Description

Are you passionate about early years education and looking for a rewarding opportunity in Birmingham? Zest Education are currently seeking a dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a team at a school in Hurst Green on a full-time basis, starting January 2025. You will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:30am till 3:30pm, supporting and engaging with the children.

As an EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the learning and development of young children. Your responsibilities will include assisting the class teacher, preparing learning materials, supervising activities, and providing one-on-one support to students.

You will be expected to:

  • To work under the direction of the teacher, assist with the planning of lessons, prepare equipment and resources, and participate in training.
  • Watch over and assist students, including those with special needs.
  • Build positive rapport with students and engage with them in a way that best suits their needs.
  • Motivate the students to participate in group activities and teacher-led projects.
  • Encourage independence and self-worth while setting high standards.
  • Establish and keep a focused, organised, and encouraging atmosphere in compliance with lesson plans.
  • Encourage students to behave well.

Requirements:

  • Have relevant experience within an educational setting or working with EYFS children.
  • Own an enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one.
  • A comprehension of good teaching techniques for all Early Years subjects.
  • Have well-developed interpersonal skills – the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Be able to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
  • A genuine desire in helping children with educational aspirations.
  • Positive and patient attitude.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
