Full-Time SEN Teacher

Job Description

Are you an experienced SEN Teacher in Derby looking for a rewarding new role? Zest Education is recruiting for a passionate and dedicated Full-Time Special Needs Teacher to join a brand-new Resource Base Provision at a welcoming primary school in Derby.

This exciting full time SEN teaching opportunity is ideal for a teacher who understands the needs of non-verbal and pre-verbal learners and is looking to make a genuine difference in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

About the Full-Time SEN Teacher Role

You will lead a small, specialist class of 11 pupils (9 EYFS and 2 Year 1) who are non-verbal or pre-verbal. The provision is purpose-built to support children with complex communication needs, helping them to thrive through tailored, sensory-based, and structured learning experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver personalised learning for pupils with additional and complex needs.

  • Support and encourage communication using PECS, Makaton, visual aids, and alternative communication methods.

  • Create a calm, safe, and engaging classroom environment that promotes emotional wellbeing and independence.

  • Work collaboratively with a team of teaching assistants, therapists, and SEN specialists.

  • Track pupil progress and adapt learning to meet individual targets.

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • Experience teaching pupils with SEN, communication, or developmental needs.

  • Understanding of non-verbal / pre-verbal communication and sensory-based learning.

  • Patience, creativity, and a caring approach to education.

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
