Full-time Teaching Assistant, Birmingham.

We are currently looking for a full-time Teaching Assistant for a special educational needs school located in central Birmingham. This position is due to begin October 2022 and will continue on a long term basis into the new academic year. Although this position is to work in a school environment, we are open to receiving applications from TA’s, support workers and individuals that have worked with adults with special educational needs.

This is an independent special day school which caters for children from the age of seven to sixteen with Autism (ASC) and associated learning needs. All class sizes are small throughout this school and ensures that each class does not exceed nine students and maintains a high level of staff.

This is a well-respected school, that ensures students within the setting are supported throughout their time in the environment. Many of the learners in this environment find it difficult to trust individuals, so we are looking for someone that can build rapport quickly. You will be supporting the students individually and in small groups.

The role:

  • You have previous experience of supporting individuals with special educational needs or in a similar environment
  • You must be engaging, reliable and able to quickly build professional relationships
  • Implement positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalate any challenges you do face with your calm approach
