Full Time Teaching Assistant – Primary School – Swadlinctote

Job Description

Zest Education is working closely with a primary school in Swadlincote, who are looking to appoint a full-time Teaching Assistant to support within a Year 5 classroom. This role is to start as soon as possible and will run on a long-term basis, with working hours of 8:30am – 12:30pm, Monday to Friday, during term time only.

About the Role:

You will be working as a Teaching Assistant in a Year 5 classroom, supporting both the class teacher and pupils throughout the morning. The class includes several children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), so prior experience supporting pupils with additional needs is essential.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing general classroom support to the class teacher

  • Working 1:1 and in small groups with children with SEND

  • Supporting the delivery of differentiated learning activities

  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing

  • Helping to create an inclusive, engaging, and safe learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have previous experience supporting children with SEND, ideally within KS2

  • Be calm, patient, and understanding, with a nurturing approach

  • Be confident adapting support strategies to meet individual needs

  • Work well as part of a team, while using initiative where needed

  • Have a relevant TA qualification (Level 2/3 desirable but not essential)

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
