Job Description

Zest Education is currently recruiting a full-time Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work at a welcoming primary school in Tamworth. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive school with very well-behaved children and a positive learning environment.

This role is ideal for an experienced HLTA who is passionate about supporting pupils across the primary age range, with a particular enthusiasm for Early Years education.


The Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning throughout the school. Your responsibilities will include classroom support, covering teacher release time, and contributing to a nurturing and structured school day.


Typical Daily Schedule

  • 8:30am – Preparation time for HLTA tasks

  • 8:45am – Reception Teaching Assistant support (a passion for Early Years education is essential)

  • 12:00pm – Escort pupils to lunchtime and remain in the hall to support for 30 minutes

  • 1:00pm – Covering teacher release time across all classes

    • Opportunity to lead Forest School one afternoon per week

  • 3:25pm – Hometime


The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds HLTA status or equivalent experience

  • Has a strong passion for Early Years / Reception

  • Is confident covering classes across the primary school

  • Demonstrates excellent behaviour management skills

  • Is adaptable, proactive, and works well as part of a team

  • Is committed to supporting pupil progress and wellbeing

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
