Zest Education is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a special educational needs school in Lichfield In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting the learning and development of students aged 11-19, who require additional assistance due to their moderate to severe and complex needs.

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to collaborate closely with class teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons across various age groups. This will involve adapting teaching methods and resources to meet the individual needs of each student, taking into account their physical, sensory, and autistic conditions. Your role will be crucial in helping our students overcome learning gaps through targeted small group and one-on-one interventions.

In addition to providing academic support, you will also have the opportunity to build positive relationships with our students, acting as a role model and setting high expectations for their personal and social development. By fostering a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment, you will contribute to boosting their confidence and empowering them to reach their full potential.

Furthermore, as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will be relied upon to provide classroom coverage during the absence of the regular class teacher. Your flexibility and adaptability will be key in ensuring continuity in students’ learning journey and maintaining a smooth educational experience.

 

 To excel in this role, we are looking for candidates who possess the following key skills:

  1. Excellent Communication: You should have outstanding oral and written communication skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
  2. Adaptability: The ability to adapt teaching strategies and resources based on individual learning needs and styles is crucial in supporting the diverse range of students in our school.
  3. Patience and Empathy: Working with students with special educational needs requires a patient and empathetic approach to understand their challenges and provide the necessary support.
  4. Organizational Skills: You should be well-organized and able to manage your time effectively to juggle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  5. Creativity: Bringing creativity into your lesson plans and activities will help to engage students and make the learning experience enjoyable and effective.
  6. Problem-Solving: Being a proactive problem solver will enable you to address any obstacles that may arise in the classroom, ensuring smooth and effective learning.
  7. Teamwork: Collaborating effectively with class teachers and other staff members is vital to ensure a cohesive and supportive educational environment.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
