We are recruiting for a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist SEND school based in Cannock, working full-time Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, supporting children with severe Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

🔍 The Role:

  • Job Title: HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant)

  • Location: Cannock, Staffordshire

  • Start Date: ASAP

  • Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (term time only)

  • Contract Type: Full-time (long-term with potential for permanent placement if you’re the right fit)


💼 Key Responsibilities:

  • Support teaching and learning in a classroom setting with children who have severe ASD

  • Deliver planned interventions and work 1:1 or in small groups

  • Assist in developing communication, sensory, and life skills

  • Use behaviour management strategies that are effective for SEND pupils

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistent care and support

  • Holds HLTA status or equivalent relevant qualification

  • Experience working with children or young people with ASD or other complex SEND needs

  • Calm, patient, and adaptable with excellent communication skills

  • Committed to long-term work and being a consistent presence for students
