Job Description

Year 6 Teacher – Primary School in Stafford

Full‑time | Easter 2026 start | Through Zest Education

Zest Education is working closely with a warm, forward‑thinking primary school in Stafford to recruit an experienced Year 6 Teacher. This is a key role supporting pupils through their final year of primary school, and the school is seeking a confident practitioner with a strong background in Key Stage 2.

Role overview

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for a Year 6 class, delivering high‑quality teaching and ensuring pupils are well prepared—academically and emotionally—for their transition to secondary school. The role requires a balance of strong curriculum knowledge, excellent classroom practice, and the ability to motivate pupils during a high‑stakes year.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, well‑structured lessons across the Year 6 curriculum
  • Prepare pupils effectively for end‑of‑KS2 SATs, using assessment to inform planning
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports progress and wellbeing
  • Track pupil attainment and implement targeted interventions where needed
  • Work collaboratively with the KS2 team and wider school staff
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers
  • Uphold the school’s safeguarding policies and promote pupil welfare

What we’re looking for

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strong experience teaching KS2, ideally Year 5 or Year 6
  • Confident understanding of assessment, moderation, and SATs preparation
  • A reflective, proactive approach to teaching and learning
  • High expectations for behaviour, progress, and pupil engagement
  • A commitment to professional development and teamwork

What the school offers

  • A supportive, collaborative staff team
  • Pupils who are enthusiastic, respectful, and eager to learn
  • Strong leadership and a positive school culture
  • Well‑resourced classrooms and access to CPD opportunities
  • A welcoming environment where staff wellbeing is valued
