Learner Support Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Learner Support Assistant to join a welcoming school in Nuneaton, supporting pupils with SEND across all year groups. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and thrive both academically and emotionally. You’ll be working closely with pupils who require additional support, helping them build confidence, develop key skills, and feel fully included in the school community. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEND across various year groups.
  • Assist with personalised learning plans and targeted interventions.
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and wider support staff.
  • Promote independence, positive behaviour, and a safe, inclusive environment.
  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs.

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience working with children, ideally within a school setting.
  • SEND experience is highly desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to adapt to different age groups and learning needs.
  • Passion for supporting young people and helping them succeed.

The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
