We’re recruiting for a passionate Learning Support Assistant/ Teaching Assistant role at a busy special educational needs school located in Burton-on-Trent. The is a full-time position due to begin ASAP and will continue on a long-term basis into the new academic year. This school caters for children from the age of five to nineteen with autism, speech and language disorders, moderate to severe learning difficulties and associated behavioural difficulties.  Due to the needs of the learners, the ideal candidate will have previous experience supporting individuals with SEND or within the care sector.

Class sizes are small with between 5 and 8 students in each of the 9 classes, including 1 primary age class. Students are grouped according to their age and ability. You may be required to work with the students individually and in small groups. The successful candidate must be a proactive and engaging individual who has proven experience of having strong behaviour management skills and working across a range of age groups.

The role:

  • You have experience supporting individuals with special educational needs or within the care sector
  • You are a patient individual and have a positive attitude towards the educational development of the students
  • You will need to be adaptable to work and support children of a variety of ages and learning difficulties
