Learning Support Assistant.

We are recruiting for a Learning Support Assistant to join a rapidly improving special educational needs school in Walsall to start after October 2022. This is a part-time position and will continue on a long-term basis into the new academic year. The school are seeking an individual who can commit to four days a week.

The school caters for children from the age of seven to eighteen with learning difficulties, however majority of the children at this school have additional needs including autism, speech, language and communication difficulties and some behavioural issues. Due to the needs of the learners, the ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with SEND or in a similar setting.

All pupils are taught in small classes with teaching assistants in addition to the teacher. The successful candidate must be confident with behaviour management as you will be required to support the children on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

The role:

  • You must have knowledge and understanding of the needs of working in an alternative provision and will be able to forge positive and mutually respectful relationships with colleagues and student
  • You must be passionate about working with students with special educational needs and have previous experience of working in a special school or similar environment
  • To promote and encourage independence and personal development in pupils and maintain high expectations of behaviour at all times
