Learning Support Assistant.

Zest Education is working with a brilliant special educational needs school in Cannock to recruit for a full-time Learning Support Assistant. This position is due to start in October 2022 and will continue into the new academic year. The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 15:30.

The school caters for students from the age of six to eighteen with Autism (ASC) and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH).  Due to the needs of the learners, the ideal candidate must have experience supporting individuals with SEND or in a similar environment.

This school supports students who have difficulties accessing mainstream education. All classes consist of a mixture of year groups tailored to needs and academic ability. So, it is important that you are confident, enthusiastic, and able to identify and engage with different learning needs.

The role:

  • Implement positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalate any challenges you do face with your calm approach
  • Providing support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
  • Building and maintaining successful relationships with students, whilst treating them with respect and consideration

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
