Part-time Teaching Assistant

Job Description

We’re recruiting for a passionate part-time Teaching Assistant role at a busy special educational needs school in Stoke-On-Trent. The position will be starting ASAP and will continue until the end of the academic year.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be working within a supportive and nurturing environment, catering to children with Autism (ASC) and associated needs, aged between 5 and 11.

To excel in this position, you will need to have previous experience supporting individuals with special educational needs or within a similar environment. The successful candidate will be expected to work two days a week, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, with the specific days to be discussed during the interview process.

The school prioritise building engaging relationships with small groups of children. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and other teaching assistants, collaborating as a team to provide the best educational experience for our students. Your ability to quickly build trusting relationships with the children will be crucial in helping them manage any learning challenges they may face.

Key Responsibilities:

– Assist the class teacher in implementing tailored educational programs for children with Autism (ASC) and associated needs.

– Provide one-on-one support to students, helping them to overcome learning challenges and achieve their full potential.

– Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting the social and emotional development of each child.

– Collaborate with the teaching team to plan and deliver engaging lessons and activities tailored to individual needs.

– Support students in developing essential life skills and independence.

– Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and external professionals.

 

 Requirements:

– Previous experience supporting individuals with special educational needs or within a similar environment.

– Strong understanding of Autism (ASC) and associated needs.

– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.

– Empathy, patience, and the ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs.

– A genuine passion for working with children and helping them reach their full potential.

– Flexibility to work collaboratively as part of a team.

– Ability to think creatively and problem-solve in challenging situations.

– A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent qualification.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications.
