We have a fantastic opportunity for a part-time Teaching Assistant to work in a primary special educational needs school located in Birmingham – the role is due to start September 2022 and will continue into the new academic year. The school are seeking an individual who can commit to two days a week, 8:30 to 15:30.

The school itself caters for students from the age of six to seventeen with Autism (ASC) and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Due to the needs of the students, the ideal candidate must have previous experience working with special educational needs or in a similar setting.

The school itself is improving within academic and attainment levels and is continually looking to ensure their students develop into respectable and inspiring individuals. The role will require you to quickly build engaging relationships with small groups of children, and you will need to work closely as a team with the class teacher and other teaching assistants.

The role:

  • The successful candidate will be required to work alongside the class teacher, prepare learning resources and maintain the classroom to a high standard
  • You will be supporting the students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups with all areas of the curriculum
  • You will be confident, enthusiastic and be able to identify and engage with different learning needs
