Zest Education is exclusively working with a special educational needs school located in Kings Norton, Birmingham. The role that is available is for 3 days a week Teaching Assistant position at an ‘Good’ SEND school. This position is due to start October 2022.

This school caters for children from the age of five to sixteen with Autism (ASC) and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH).  Due to the needs of the students, the ideal candidate must have experience supporting individuals with special educational needs and strong behaviour management.

The successful candidate will be required to work with the students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups. You must be able to work well as part of a team along with being able to use your initiative. The role will require you to quickly build engaging relationships with small groups of children, and you will need to work closely as a team with the class teacher and other teaching assistants.

The role:

  • You must be passionate about working with students with special educational needs and have previous experience of working in a special school or similar environment
  • You will help prepare learning resources and run classroom activities, with plenty of hands-on experience
  • Help to keep disruption to a minimum and de-escalate any challenges you do face with your impressively calm approach.

Salary is dependent on experience, training or qualifications. The minimum experience, training or qualifications required for this position are: Recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years, teaching within a school teaching the British Curriculum).
