Premises Manager

Job Description

Zest Education is seeking an experienced and proactive Premises Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance, safety, and smooth running of a school in Stoke-on-Trent. This is a key role within the school, ideal for someone with strong facilities management experience and a hands-on approach.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of school buildings and grounds

  • Carry out general repairs, DIY tasks, and essential maintenance

  • Ensure full health & safety compliance, including fire safety, risk assessments, and COSHH

  • Manage site security, including opening, locking, and monitoring the site

  • Maintain records of statutory checks, servicing, and inspections

  • Supervise cleaning teams, contractors, and external suppliers

  • Monitor budgets, order materials, and manage stock levels

  • Ensure learning areas, corridors, toilets, and outdoor spaces are safe and well-presented

  • Respond quickly to urgent issues such as leaks, hazards, or faults

 Ideal Candidate:

 Previous experience as a Premises Manager, Site Manager, Caretaker, or Facilities Lead
 Strong understanding of health & safety regulations and compliance
 Able to carry out DIY, maintenance, and basic technical tasks
 Highly organised with good communication skills
 Confident supervising staff and liaising with contractors
 Reliable, proactive, and able to think on their feet
 Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
