Primary Teaching Assistant

Job Description

This long-term position is perfect for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils’ learning and helping them reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils across the classroom to ensure all learners are engaged and achieving their best.
  • Work one-to-one or with small groups to reinforce learning and build confidence.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons and activities that inspire curiosity and progress.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes respect and enthusiasm for learning.
  • Provide additional support to pupils with special educational needs (SEN) or those requiring extra guidance.
  • Contribute to the preparation of classroom materials and resources.
  • Monitor pupil progress and feedback observations to the class teacher.
  • Promote the school’s values and uphold a safe, supportive learning environment at all times.

 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Experience working with children in a school setting (primary or secondary).
  • Relevant qualification such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate is essential.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive attitude towards supporting young learners.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • The ability to use initiative and adapt to the needs of the class.
  • A genuine passion for education and helping children succeed.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one through Zest Education).
