Job Description

A well‑organised secondary school in Sutton Coldfield is looking for a skilled, methodical, and safety‑focused Science Technician to support the smooth running of their science department. This role suits someone who enjoys practical work, understands lab procedures, and can keep a busy prep room running efficiently.

🔬 Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing equipment, chemicals, and materials for science lessons
  • Setting up and clearing away practical experiments across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics
  • Maintaining stock levels and organising the prep room safely
  • Ensuring all equipment is clean, functional, and stored correctly
  • Supporting teachers during practical sessions when required
  • Managing chemical storage, labelling, and COSHH documentation
  • Carrying out routine safety checks on equipment and classrooms
  • Assisting with demonstrations and practical troubleshooting

👩‍🔬 What the School Needs

  • Previous experience as a Science Technician or strong lab‑based background
  • Good understanding of health & safety, COSHH, and safe lab practice
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • A calm, practical, problem‑solving approach
