Zest Education are seeking an experienced Science Technician to join a secondary school in the Harborne area. The successful candidate will have experience working in a secondary school environment. The school have advised that this role can run on either a full-time or part-time basis. The role is due to commence as soon as possible, and has the potential to run until the end of the academic year.

Responsibilities:

– Assisting the senior technician in preparing and setting up equipment for science experiments and practical lessons.
– Ensuring all equipment and materials are safely stored and maintained.
– Ordering and managing stock levels of materials and chemicals.
– Conducting routine maintenance and safety checks on laboratory equipment.
– Supporting teachers and students during practical sessions.
– Adhering to health and safety regulations and ensuring a safe working environment.

Requirements:

– A Bachelors degree in a Science based subject.

– Previous experience as a science technician in a secondary school.
– A good understanding of health and safety regulations in a lab environment.
– Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
– Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
– Knowledge of science curriculum and practical requirements.
