SEMH Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Are you looking for a new and exciting opportunity to work with children who have SEMH needs? Zest Education is currently seeking a part-time SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team at a lovely school in Redditch. This is a permanent position for the right person, with an immediate start date.

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students who may have additional challenges in their learning environment. Your dedication and patience will help to create a positive and inclusive atmosphere for these students, enabling them to thrive academically and emotionally.

Responsibilities:
– Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, both inside and outside the classroom.
– Assist the teacher in delivering tailored interventions and strategies to support students’ social and emotional development.
– Foster a safe and nurturing environment where students feel valued and supported.
– Collaborate with other professionals, including the SENCO and educational psychologists, to create and implement individual education plans.
– Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to both students and teachers.

Requirements:
– Experience working with students with SEMH needs or similar challenges is highly desirable.
– A patient and empathetic approach, with the ability to build positive relationships with students.
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both with students and colleagues.
– Flexibility and adaptability to meet the individual needs of students.
– An understanding of safeguarding procedures and the ability to implement them effectively.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
