SEN Teacher

Job Description

Zest Education is working closely with a specialist school in Burton-on-Trent to recruit a dedicated SEN Teacher for a September start. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and forward-thinking team, committed to making a real difference in the lives of children with additional needs.

The school caters to pupils with a range of special educational needs, including autism (ASD), social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges, ADHD, and learning difficulties. Class sizes are small, with a strong support network of teaching assistants and pastoral staff in place.

 The Role Involves:

  • Planning and delivering inclusive, creative lessons tailored to pupils’ individual learning profiles.

  • Teaching in small groups or on a 1:1 basis in a nurturing, structured setting.

  • Working collaboratively with support staff, parents, and external agencies.

  • Promoting pupil well-being, engagement, and progress across both academic and personal development areas.

 Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) – essential.

  • Experience in an SEN environment or strong understanding of SEND.

  • A calm, patient and flexible approach to behaviour and learning.

  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply through Zest).

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
