Are you passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs? ZEST Education is looking for a caring and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a friendly mainstream primary school in Barnet.
You will be supporting pupils in a specialist provision within the school, designed for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and additional needs. Some pupils may display challenging behaviour, so a calm, empathetic and consistent approach is essential.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with ASD and other SEN.
Help children develop communication, social and emotional regulation skills.
Assist with behaviour management and implement personalised learning strategies.
Foster inclusion and encourage positive interactions in both classroom and outdoor learning environments.
Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and other professionals to ensure every child can succeed.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a nurturing, structured and hands-on environment — including outdoor and sensory-based activities.
We are looking for someone who:
Has previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly Autism.
Understands how to support children with challenging behaviour in a positive and proactive way.
Is patient, reliable and able to remain calm under pressure.
Works well as part of a collaborative team.
Team Teach training (desirable).
Relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or SEN training) are beneficial but not essential.
Opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a child’s educational journey.
Supportive school environment and access to ongoing professional development.
Long-term, stable role for the full academic year.
