Do you have a passion for aiding the learning experience of students with special education requirements? Zest is currently recruiting for a part-time (Monday to Wednesday each week) SEND Learning Support Assistant to cover short-term for a few weeks on behalf of a school based in Northeast Leicester. The role will be available as soon as possible to the correct candidate.

This school caters for students aged 11yo – 16yo with a range of complex needs including autism spectrum condition (ASC), ADHD and conduct disorders. The ideal SEND Learning Support Assistant will have experience working with pupils of a similar nature.

 

Responsibilities of the SEND Learning Support Assistant role include:

  • Implementing the schools’ behaviour policy and showing strong de-escalation skills when needed
  • Supplying 1:1 support and encouraging participation in discussions and activities
  • Helping in the implementation of individualised education plans (IEP)
  • Creating positive relationships with the students

 

Requirements of the SEND Learning Support Assistant role include:

  • A passion for assisting students to break down learning barriers
  • Able to work collaboratively with other members of staff to best support the students
  • Patience and understanding to support the students’ needs
  • Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
