SEND Support Assistant

Step into a role where your impact is immediate and meaningful. As a SEND support assistant in Nuneaton, you’ll work directly with pupils who need consistent, skilled and compassionate support. From the moment you walk into the classroom, you’ll help create structure, build trust and guide pupils through challenges that affect their learning and emotional wellbeing.

Because this role demands confidence and experience, you’ll take the lead in supporting pupils with a range of SEND needs. You’ll work alongside teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams; however, you’ll also take initiative, adapt quickly and respond to pupils’ needs in real time. As you move through the school day, you’ll shift seamlessly between 1:1 support, small‑group work and whole‑class assistance, ensuring every pupil feels understood and supported.

Key Responsibilities of a SEND Support Assistant

• Deliver targeted support for pupils with SEND, both 1:1 and in small groups
• Use proactive strategies to support emotional regulation and behaviour
• Adapt tasks and break down instructions to keep pupils engaged
• Build strong, trusting relationships that help pupils feel safe and confident
• Work closely with staff to implement personalised support plans
• Maintain a positive, structured and predictable learning environment
• Encourage independence, resilience and positive learning habits
