SEND Support Staff

A warm and inclusive primary school in Coventry is looking for committed SEND Support Staff to join their team on a long‑term basis. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in EYFS and SEND, who is confident supporting young children with additional needs and helping them feel safe, engaged and ready to learn.

Requirements

• SEND experience is essential
• EYFS experience is essential
• Previous school‑based experience is highly desirable
• Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young children
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Calm, patient and adaptable approach
• Understanding of early learning, emotional regulation and behaviour support
• Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing

Day‑to‑day duties

• Providing 1:1 or small‑group support for pupils with SEND
• Assisting with early phonics, communication and play‑based learning
• Helping pupils stay engaged, confident and emotionally regulated
• Supporting behaviour using agreed strategies
• Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow support plans
• Encouraging independence, social interaction and positive learning habits
• Contributing to a safe, inclusive and nurturing early years environment
