SEND Teaching Assistant

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in the classroom, working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to support children with a range of needs including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and SLD. You will be expected to provide both 1:1 and small group support, adapting learning activities to meet individual targets and helping pupils to access the curriculum.

Daily duties will include:

• Supporting children with SEND in lessons, ensuring they are engaged and able to participate fully.
• Assisting with social and emotional development through structured activities and positive reinforcement.
• Implementing behaviour management strategies to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
• Helping children with personal care, mobility, and transitions around the school where required.
• Carrying out observations and contributing to individual education plans (IEPs).
• Building strong relationships with pupils, parents, and staff to promote trust and collaboration.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience working with children with additional needs and a genuine passion for supporting their development. A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is preferred, though not essential if you have relevant experience. Strong communication skills, patience, and resilience are key qualities we are looking for.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
