You will be supporting children with a range of additional needs, including those with EHCPs, and we are particularly keen to hear from individuals with experience in Speech and Language, ADHD, SEMH, and Autism.

SEND Teaching Assistants play a vital role in the classroom. You will work closely with the class teacher while also using your own initiative to enhance the quality of teaching and learning for the children you support.

  • Experience working in a friendly, busy school environment
  • Strong understanding of SEN needs and how to support them

  • Paediatric First Aid (desirable)
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures
  • A compassionate understanding of the emotional, social and learning needs of children with SEND
  • Motivation to support children with additional needs and help them build confidence

Explore SEN support strategies or autism‑friendly approaches to deepen your practice.

Personal Qualities

You should be:

  • Calm, patient and an excellent listener
  • Able to build strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents
  • Reliable, trustworthy and able to maintain confidentiality
  • Friendly yet firm, with the ability to relate to a wide range of personalities
  • Confident using your initiative
  • Willing to take direction and follow guidance
  • Knowledgeable about behaviour management strategies
  • A strong team player

Why Work With Zest Education?

  • Competitive pay
  • Supportive consultants who understand SEND
  • Long‑term opportunities with potential for extension
