Are you passionate about sports and guiding young individuals towards their full potential? We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced sports coach to join our team at a secondary school in the Cannock area. This full-time position will commence in April 2024 and offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students.
As a sports coach in our school, you will bring your expertise and enthusiasm to facilitate the development of students’ athletic abilities. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver high-quality coaching sessions, providing instruction, feedback, and support to students across various sporting disciplines. Your experience working with children in the UK will be invaluable in understanding their unique needs and tailoring your coaching approach accordingly.
In addition to your coaching duties, there will be elements of general cover in this role. This may involve supervising students during other subject areas where the teacher is not available, or supporting other activities as required. Flexibility and adaptability are essential qualities for success in this position. leading groups of students from the ages of 11- 18 as a cover supervisor.
Ideally the candidate will have experience of working with and leading groups of children and young people in a variety of different settings. Cover supervisors come from a range of backgrounds such as:
- Youth workers
- Sports coaches
- Scout leaders
- Play group leaders
The role of a sports coach cover supervisor is important within schools. You will be expected to supervise both KS3 and KS4 P.E lessons. Cover supervisors oversee and carry out pre-planned lessons when teaching staff are on short-term absence.
To excel in this role, you should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. You will be working closely with students, teachers, and parents, so the ability to build positive relationships and effectively convey instructions and feedback is crucial. You should also have a thorough understanding of safeguarding principles to ensure the welfare and safety of all students under your care.
– Proven experience working as a children, preferably in a secondary school setting
– Familiarity with a range of sports and the ability to deliver engaging coaching sessions for students of varying abilities
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
– Understanding of safeguarding principles and commitment to ensuring student welfare
– Flexibility to provide general cover as needed
