Support Worker

Job Description

We are currently recruiting for several Support Worker roles for a special educational needs school located in Walsall. This position is due to begin ASAP and will continue on a long-term basis into the new academic year. This school caters for students from the age of seven to sixteen with Autism (ASC). The ideal candidate will have experience supporting individuals with special educational needs or experience in a care setting.

The school aims to equip all children and young people with the necessary life skills, academic or vocational qualifications and emotional intelligence to succeed. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, be eager to learn, have a positive attitude and work well as part of a team. You will be committed to the safeguarding and well-being of all pupils and provide exceptional learning and support.

The role:

  • You will be supporting students with a variety of needs and ages so it is important that you are able to who can adapt your practice wherever necessary to support across all key stages
  • You must have experience supporting individuals with special educational needs or experience in a care environment
  • You will be working alongside the class teacher, assisting the children with their work, and supporting with pupil behaviour while establishing good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
