Job Description

Zest Education are currently seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of Music to join a secondary school in the Kings Heath area. This is a full-time role, where the successful candidate will play an integral role within the music department. The role is due to commence in January 2025 and will run for a minimum of one term.

As a Music Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering practical music lessons to students at various levels. You will also be required to assess and mark student progress, providing feedback and guidance to help them improve their musical skills.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in music, with experience in teaching various musical instruments and techniques. You should be able to demonstrate excellent musical ability and knowledge, and have the ability to effectively communicate and engage with students of all abilities.

In addition to your teaching responsibilities, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the wider music department activities, such as organising concerts, rehearsals, and other extracurricular music events. This will involve working closely with other music teachers and supporting the overall development of the music curriculum.

To be considered for this role, you should hold a relevant degree in Music and have a valid teaching qualification. Previous experience in a similar role is highly desirable.

Successful candidates will have:
  • A PGCE or equivalent UK teaching qualification that has awarded them QTS or QTLS
  • A strong enthusiasm for the subject of Music and the ability to plan and deliver high quality lessons
  • Excellent knowledge of the KS3 to KS5 curriculum
  • A team ethos and the ability to build strong and professional relationships with both colleagues and pupils
  • Experience in classroom and behaviour management

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
