Job Description

Zest Education are seeking an experienced Resistant Materials Teacher to join an excellent secondary school in the Harborne area. As a specialist in this field, you will be responsible for teaching students from Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, ensuring that they develop a solid foundation and practical skills in resistant materials. This is a full time role due to commence in January 2025, and is expected to run for a minimum of one term.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that engage and challenge students in line with the national curriculum.
2. Teach practical skills related to design and resistant materials techniques.
3. Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages creativity and problem-solving.
4. Set clear and achievable learning objectives, regularly assess student progress, and provide constructive feedback.
5. Utilise various teaching methods and resources to adapt to different learning styles and abilities of students.
6. Collaborate with colleagues to develop and share best practices in teaching resistant materials.
7. Maintain a safe and organised classroom environment, ensuring all equipment and materials are well-maintained and accessible for students.
8. Contribute to the wider life of the school through extracurricular activities, such as clubs or workshops.

Requirements:

1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, specialising in resistant materials.
2. Experience in teaching resistant materials at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
3. Strong subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring students’ interest and enthusiasm for the subject.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
5. Effective classroom management skills, ensuring a disciplined and supportive learning environment.
6. Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons that cater to a range of learning styles and abilities.
7. Experience in marking and providing constructive feedback to students.
8. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage workload effectively.

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
