Job Description

Resource Base Teaching Assistant – Full Time

Location: Balsall Heath
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Until Summer 2026 (potential extension into September 2026)

Zest Education are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and well‑established three‑form entry primary school in Balsall Heath. The school is seeking a committed and experienced Resource Base Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full‑time, long‑term basis.

This role is ideal for a Level 3 qualified TA with strong experience supporting children with a range of additional needs. The position will involve working closely with pupils who require tailored support—including behavioural needs and elements of personal care—within a specialist resource base environment.

The school prides itself on its inclusive ethos, supportive leadership team and nurturing provision for children who require additional help. You’ll be joining a collaborative staff team who are passionate about providing the very best outcomes for their pupils.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting children within the resource base who have varying and complex needs
  • Providing 1:1 and small‑group support
  • Assisting with personal care where required
  • Using strategies to support pupils with behavioural needs
  • Working alongside teachers, SENDCo and other support staff
  • Helping to maintain a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment
  • Encouraging positive routines, confidence and independence

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold an NVQ Level 3 (or above) in a relevant childcare qualification
  • Have experience supporting children with SEND, including behavioural needs
  • Be confident with personal care
  • Be patient, resilient and adaptable in a busy school setting
  • Have strong communication skills and a nurturing approach
  • Be ready to commit to a long‑term role

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
