KS1 Teaching Assistant Job in Birmingham (Erdington) | Full-Time Primary School Role

Classroom Support Assistant – KS1 & EAL Focus | Immediate Start

A friendly primary school in Erdington is looking for a KS1 Teaching Assistant to join their team full-time.

This is a hands-on classroom support role working with children in Key Stage 1, including pupils who speak English as an Additional Language (EAL). The school is looking for someone who enjoys helping children feel confident, included, and ready to learn.

🌈What You’ll Be Doing

In this KS1 classroom support role, your day will include:

  • Working alongside the class teacher during lessons
  • Supporting pupils in reading, writing, phonics, and maths
  • Helping EAL learners understand instructions and access learning
  • Running small group activities and 1:1 support sessions
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and classroom routines
  • Supporting children who need extra help to stay on track
  • Helping prepare simple learning materials and activities

You’ll be a key part of helping children settle, learn, and make steady progress in KS1.

This job will suit you if you:

  • Have experience working with children (school, nursery, tutoring, or childcare)
  • Enjoy supporting children one-to-one or in small groups
  • Are patient, calm, and consistent in your approach
  • Can communicate clearly and work well in a team
  • Have an interest in primary education or classroom support
  • Experience with EAL learners is helpful, but not essential

A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is welcome but not required.
