Teaching Assistant

Job Description

We are recruiting for an enthusiastic, cheerful, and hard-working individual to work on a long-term basis as a Teaching Assistant within a lovely SEND school located in Cannock. This position will be starting ASAP until the end of the year on a full-time basis.

This school caters for students from KS2 to KS4, these students have social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Due to the needs of the children, the ideal candidate will have experience within a special needs setting.

This school accepts students who have failed to establish satisfactory social and working relationships with peers and other members of the community. The schools main focus is to provide an environment which will help them readjust, regain or build self-esteem and be able to claim their place in society.

You will be working 1:1 with a student in KS2 with SEND, supporting the student with their day-to-day tasks inside and outside the classroom and focusing on the students progress. The successful candidate must ambitious and committed to providing students with the high-quality education. On some occasions, you may be required to also work within small groups so you must be adaptable to each students needs.

The role:

  • You will have great communication skills, basic knowledge of Makaton or PECS would be advantageous
  • You will have previous experience of working within a special educational needs environment
  • You will be working in small class sizes, with a maximum of nine students in each class

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
