Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is working in close partnership with a special educational needs school located in Stoke-on-Trent. The school are looking to appoint a full-time Teaching Assistant to start ASAP and will continue on a long-term basis into the new academic year. The successful candidate must be able to work Monday to Friday, 8:30-15:30.

As a Teaching Assistant in this unique educational setting, you will have the opportunity to work within different Learning Zones, each catering to a specific key stage group. The school specifically caters to students aged between 5-14, who have social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Therefore, we are looking for an ideal candidate who has previous experience working with special educational needs or within a care environment. Your understanding of these needs will be vital in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for the students.

To be successful in this role, you need to be confident, enthusiastic, and have the ability to identify and engage with different learning needs. Strong behaviour management skills are crucial, as you will play a key role in providing continuity and support to the class and students. Working alongside the class teacher, you will provide personalized assistance to students, both on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, across all areas of the curriculum.

 

 Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with special educational needs or within a care environment
  • Confidence, enthusiasm, and a passion for supporting students with SEMH difficulties
  • Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to provide continuity to the class
  • Ability to identify and engage with different learning needs
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a busy and dynamic educational setting

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
