We are currently looking for a Teaching Assistant for a special educational needs school located in Tamworth. This is a part-time position and must be able to commit to 3 days a week, 8:30 to 15:30. This position is due to begin September 2022 and will continue on a long term basis into the new academic year. This school caters for children from the age of five to sixteen with Autism (ASC) and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Due to the needs of the learners, the ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with individuals with SEND and is confident with their behaviour management.

You will be working within classes with no more than nine pupils and be heavily focused on teaching the pupils life skills to encourage them to be as independent as possible. Every day is different at this school so the ideal Teaching Assistant must be willing to work in a busy, fast paced environment. You will be passionate towards every pupil to empower them to achieve and reach their full potential.

The role:

  • You must be passionate about working with students with special educational needs and have previous experience of working in a special school or similar environment
  • You are a patient individual and have a positive attitude towards the educational development of the students
  • Implement positive behaviour management strategies and de-escalate any challenges you do face with your calm approach
