Teaching Assistant, Stoke-on-Trent.

A lovely special educational needs school located in Stoke-on-Trent require a full-time Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2022 which will continue on a long-term basis into the new academic year. You will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 15:30.

This school caters for students from the age of three to sixteen with Autism (ASC) and social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). The ideal candidate must have experience working with special educational needs or in a similar environment.

This is a ‘Good’ rated school which is improving within academic and attainment levels and is continually looking to ensure their students develop into respectable and inspiring individuals. The promotion of independence, creativity, community skills, and challenge are seen as central to all of the teaching that takes place. The school are seeking a committed Teaching Assistant who shares the same vision and values.

The role will require you to support the students in small groups and must be confident with providing 1:1 support to the students when needed. Strong behaviour management is essential along with having the ability to work well as part of a strong team.

The role:

  • You must be passionate about working with students with special educational needs and have previous experience of working in a special school or similar environment
  • You will be confident, enthusiastic and be able to identify and engage with different learning needs
  • You will be working alongside the class teacher and other teaching assistants, supporting the students with all areas of the curriculum.
