We have a fantastic opportunity for a full-time Teaching Assistant to work in a special educational needs school located in Cannock. This role is due to begin ASAP and will continue on a long term basis.
This school caters for children from the age of five to fifteen with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH). Due to the needs of the learners, the ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with individuals with special educational needs and is confident with their behaviour management.
This school believes as well as focusing on classroom-based learning it is also important for the students to get out and make use of their endless energy. To help with this the school tailors each individual child’s timetable to include an adventurous activity. This can vary from Archery, Mountain Biking, Canoeing and Hill Walking. You may be required to support the students both inside and outside of the classroom, so it is important that you are adaptable.
The role will require you to quickly build engaging relationships with small groups of children, and you will need to work closely as a team with the class teacher and other teaching assistants.
- You have previous experience of supporting individuals with special educational needs
- You will need to be confident in your ability support individuals with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties
- You will be required to work with the students 1:1 and in small group, so you must have a flexible approach
