Are you looking for a role that allows you to make a positive impact on the lives of children with severe learning difficulties? Zest Education is currently recruiting for a full-time experienced and dedicated Teaching Assistant on behalf of a school just south of the Leicester City Centre for the remainder of the academic year. The role will be starting as soon as possible for the right candidate.

The school you will be working in provides exceptional education and support for students aged 4yo to 19yo with a range of special educational needs ranging from Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) to Severe and Complex Learning Difficulties (SLD). Some of the students may have additional sensory, speech, language, and communication needs. This Teaching Assistant role will be perfect for an individual who is passionate about working with students with the above needs, ensuring that they receive the necessary support and assistance to succeed academically and emotionally.


Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant role include:

  • Engaging and assisting student with their classwork and educational activities
  • Implementing individualised learning programs tailored to each student’s needs
  • Collaborating with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the holistic support for students
  • Monitoring student progress and reporting any feedback to the class teacher
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment


Requirements of the Teaching Assistant role include:

  • Relevant experience supporting individuals with MLD and SLD
  • Strong understanding of Individualised Education Plans
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meets the diverse needs of student
  • Patience, empathy and a passion for helping children overcome challenges
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
