Teaching Assistant

Job Description

Zest Education is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant for a special educational needs school located in Rugeley.

This school caters for students from the age of 3-19 who have Autism (ASC) and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties.

This school are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment where our students can thrive and reach their full potential.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work in any class and any key stage, supporting pupils who have persistent differences with social interaction, social communication, and understanding emotions. It is crucial that you have the ability to engage with different learning needs and adapt your teaching strategies accordingly.

The ideal candidate for this role will have previous experience supporting individuals with special educational needs, or have experience in a care setting. You will be patient, compassionate, and have a genuine passion for working with children and young adults with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing one-on-one support to students with Autism and social, emotional, and mental health challenges
  • Assisting with planning and implementing individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Supporting students in developing their social interaction and communication skills
  • Creating a safe and nurturing environment for students to learn and grow
  • Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to ensure the holistic development of students

 Requirements:

  • Experience working with individuals with SEND or in a care setting
  • A patient and empathetic approach to supporting students with diverse needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs
  • Relevant qualifications or certifications in Teaching Assistance or Special Education would be advantageous

Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
