Zest Education is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a special educational needs school in Walsall. This part-time role starting in October 2024 offers a rewarding opportunity to work with students aged 5 to 19 with social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and Autism (ASC).
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students’ educational journey by working 3 days a week (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday) from 8:30 to 15:30. The ideal candidate should have prior experience working with special educational needs either in a classroom or support work/care setting.
At this school, we believe in nurturing students’ holistic development – intellectually, morally, socially, and personally. The curriculum is tailored to meet the individual needs of our learners and prepare them for their future educational endeavours.
In this role, you will be responsible for supervising and providing support to students to enhance their engagement in learning, remove barriers to learning, improve attainment, and boost their self-confidence and emotional well-being. You will create a purposeful, orderly, and supportive environment to facilitate students’ growth and development.

All candidates must hold an enhanced DBS (or allow us to process one for you) and be registered to the DBS Update Service, be able to provide references to cover the last two years and successfully pass all other necessary safeguarding checks prior to clearance for work.
Salary is dependent on experience, training, or qualifications. The minimum experience, training, or qualifications required for this position are recent school-based experience (within the last 5 years within a school that teaches the British Curriculum) and/or care-based experience within the last 5 years.
