We’re recruiting for a full-time Teaching Assistant to work in a special educational needs school located in Perry Common, Birmingham. This position is due to begin September 2022 and will continue on a long-term basis into the new academic year.

This is a specialist school which aims to provide a high-quality education in a safe, supportive, and aspirational environment for all children and young people unable to attend mainstream school because of health related or special educational needs. This school caters for students from the age of two to nineteen. Due to the needs of the students, the ideal candidate will have experience supporting individuals with SEND or within a care setting.

The team here work hard to maintain a supportive and inclusive ethos across all areas of the school and put the children at the heart of what they do. You will need to have the ability to manage a small groups of children with complex social communication needs with patience and empathy, on some occasions you may also be required to work with the children on a 1:1 basis.

The role:

  • You have previous experience supporting individuals with special educational needs or within a similar setting
  • You must have the ability to build good working relationships with children, teachers, parents and carers
  • The ability to promote positive behaviour in a nurturing environment is essential
